  1. Do you think it is useful or helpful in any way to think about suicide as associated with concepts like choice, resistance, escape, decision? We often think of suicide in terms of a very real and overwhelming psychic and emotional pain that individuals feel is inescapable and overwhelming... and I think it is useful and necessary to recognize that. Is it possible that there might also be approaches to suicide that recognize other places suicide originates?

    Or, maybe this is part of what you are addressing when you point out that suicide as you are investigating it isn't the same as assisted suicide --?
